ABOUT THE BEACON
As of September 1, 2008, The Beacon will have been in existence for 32 years and is published ten (10) times a year. 4400 copies are circulated to every household in Eastern Passage, Cow Bay, and Shearwater free of charge. The Beacon is a community newspaper in the true sense of the word. It is a volunteer service, brought to you by volunteers. The Beacon is supported by advertisers, donations, and community organizations. It is NOT a business. A Board of Directors regulates this community service. As we are a non-profit service, we do not charge GST or PST.

The readers/residents of the community submit articles, pictures, etc. For classified ads— thank you, child care notices, etc, there is a charge, which may be enclosed with your submission. If you wish to include a photo with your ad, the charge is $10. Also, for the purpose of donations, jars are located in the Drug Store, or you can put your donation in the mail.

We have a camera available and, if you wish, we can come to take pictures—just call, advising time and place of the event. There is no charge for this service. If you have any questions, or require additional information, please feel free to call any of The Beacon volunteer staff recorded below.

For the convenience of our readers and their families, we provide a mailing service. Subscriptions are available at $22 (10 issues) within Canada and $25 for American destinations. This covers postage, envelopes, and labels.

Your Editor is Dorothy White and your Treasurer is Elsie Johnston. Both work closely together to make sure The Beacon is run in a business-like manner.

The deadline for submissions is on or before the 18th of the month. It would be appreciated if submitted early. Please include Company name, mailing address, contact person, and phone number with your submission. The Beacon will not be published in January and August.
